Accomplishments

"Do or do not, there is no try!"

Recognition is always appreciated, but never expected. Our goal has always been to raise awareness and funds to help families and researchers battling childhood illness on the frontlines. Throughout our many events, countless people from all walks of life, have joined our fight.  From Bikers and Cosplayers to Doctors and Athletes, Jace Wars has truly transcended worlds. Below you can see several of our many accomplishments over the years.

Jace was dropped from annual MRI procedures to bi-annual and now we are looking at five years. He is progressing incredibly well and we are eternally grateful for it.
What might seem like a normal procedure for you or I, being put to sleep is almost like having very minor surgery. There are risks everytime a patient is sedated and to see your baby go limp in your hands as they inject the sedation drugs is very difficult.
A MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), is far to complex to complete on a toddler because the patient needs to be incredibly still for a long period of time, so they are put to sleep which is usually quite the nerve racking process.
After having to be sedated for an annual MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), Jace was rewarded with this certificate for his bravery.
Children undergoing traumatic medical procedures are paired with a child life team. Child life are members of pediatric interdisciplinary health care teams whose primary focus is on the develpoment and emotional needs of children and their families.
For several years, I have had the pleasure of being able to volunteer at McHappy Day at our local McDonalds Restaurant. Though drive-thru will never be the same, it is still their biggest fundraising day each year with proceeds going to Ronald McDonald house and many other local charities
Jace Wars always honors those that have gone above and beyond for us with a plaque similiar to the one pictured. It is only fitting that we present Jace with one for being the inspiration behind it all
Our Jace Wars family wouldn't be complete without the We Got The Geek crew. At our final annual fundraiser we were presented with a certificate of appreciation thanking us for all we do and welcoming us as honoary members
Costuming in the Star Wars community is pretty intense with clubs such as the 501st, the Rebel Legion, the Manadalorian Mercs and the Droid Builders. However most memberships have an eighteen years of age rule, all except one...The Galactic Academy. Here is Jace's membership card thanks to his many costumes
The day we brought Gigi home I went to change her diaper and figured while I was there, it was time for a costume change. Within a few days, she was accepted into the Galactic Academy being one of the youngest members ever
When Jace's surgery occcurred, we signed forms allowing Jace to be used in McMaster's brain tumour studies in the hopes of learning from his case. Of course there was no hesitation at all on our part. Jace was given this certificate after one of the follow up appointments.
Canadian Olympian Mike Strange has done many things for Jace over the years from making him a Heater's hero to dedicating a portion of his Box run to him. Here is the actual flag used to mark Jace's section of the Box run across Canada.
Bikers are known to be tough and that's exactly how they described Jace when they presented him with his very own patched members leather vest. Adorned with the club's patch and also our logo and sigil there is nothing that he can't accomplish
Jace even got to hop on some of the motorcycles and rev the engine a few times causing one heck of a smoke out. Though the Bikers may look tough, they are the nicest people you could ever meet and we are happy to have them join our fight
In 2019, our founder Aaron Russell was awarded the Niagara Centre Citizen of the Year for effort, contribution and achievment in Community Service and for giving back in the face of adversity. The award was presented by Federal Member of Parliment, Vance Badawey

Many people have been incredibly kind to us throughout our journey.  The appreciation we have received has blown us away quite literally, and in turn has made us incredibly grateful for all of the amazing people we have been fortunate enough to have crossed paths with.  Below is a small sample of the countless thank you’s we have received over the years.  Feel free to click the images below and get a detailed description of what these thank you’s truly mean to us.

This is a sentimental thank you as it was received after completing our very first initiative as Jace Wars. We made one hundred collectors coins and were able to raise over $500.00 for Ronald McDonald House.
This particular family was at our very first annual fundraiser and our very last annual fundraiser. Their family had grown in that time and they have had to utilize the services of Ronald McDonald House firsthand. Fortunately, they have a happy ending and continue to do well.
One of our fondest memories was recruiting some of our hero friends to visit Ronald McDonald House for there Courage Capes Program. There was so much fun to be had by everyone.
This was a thank you after a special Star Wars Day event on May the fourth was organized. Star Wars characters came to the House and hospital to visit the children and have a great time together as they celebrated life and all things Star Wars.
This was a little different thank you than our regular ones because it was for a toy drive we conducted for the children staying at Ronald McDoanld House. We are always trying new things and love when they are successful.
Jace Wars was inducted into the Presidents Club at McMaster for donating a large amount of money on a consistent basis. When we began our mission, we would have never thought to be able to raise such an amount once let alone, annually.
This particular thank you is important as they truly focused on the awareness piece that Jace Wars works so hard on. It is not only about the funds, but so much comes from awareness.
Hand written thank you's mean the most because someone actually took the time to stop and write a letter of appreciation. This is an example of one of the many thank you's from the financial officers at McMaster.
Heater's Heroes is an annual event organized by Canadian Olympian Mike Strange. Over the years we have been happy to support their work and loved watching Jace and Gig develop a great relationship with Mike and the Heater's Heroes Family.
Be The Good was a movement started by an amazing individual who had an idea to share simple but positive stories and celebrate the simple act of being kind to each other. As you can see, Tanya's positivity is contagious.
No matter how old or how young you are, every thank you means the world to us. This brave little guy had to go for surgery so Jace Wars gave him a basket with some toys and candies for being so brave.
